Pitta Pacifying
Sometimes I crave a sweet, comforting, warm drink at the end of the night as I settle down and near bedtime. A cozy beverage (& my dogs) is the perfect companion as I go about my evening routine.
This milk recipe is especially pacifying for Pitta dosha. When my Pitta dosha gets excited, it can manifest as waking up in the middle of the night with or without feeling excessively hot. The coconut milk and rose here are very calming for Pitta.
*This can be made with any other nut milks or animal milks. We tend to keep coconut milk in stock at home, but I will also be sharing a recipe for homemade almond milk that is SUPER easy to make!
Ingredients
- 8oz Coconut milk (or other milk as preferred)
- ~10 cardamom pods or 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- 1 spoonful rose petal spread (I use the MAPI rose spread)
- Maple syrup to sweeten (~1 tsp)
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
- Add 8oz milk and cardamom pods to saucepan and bring to a light simmer.
- Remove from heat and strain out the cardamom pods.
- Add maple syrup, vanilla extract and rose petal spread. Stir so the spread and syrup melt.
- If you have a frother, feel free to froth at this step.
Enjoy!
*If you’d prefer, you can use rose petals (be sure to source appropriately). Add about a tbsp of rose petals to the milk after frothing.
